The Openly Valley project used conventional hollow-core slabs filled with clay. (An alternative is gravel.)
A hollow-core slab ceiling offers the ability to store energy efficiently: In the case of Openly Bauphysik, approximately 70% of the energy is stored in the ceilings.
The clay serves both to regulate moisture and as an additional energy store.
The entire house has a modular design and can be assembled using simple plug-in and screw connections.
The hollow-core slabs are made of prefabricated elements.
Costs starting at 220 euros per square meter, making it cost-neutral

LB clay ceilings are being used for the first time in the Openlys built in 2026. These have a clay layer on the underside and are delivered prefabricated for around €250/m².
